Acting as the Beverly Hills Parking Authority, City Council members unanimously decided Tuesday to allow Bailey’s Bakery to increase the size of its store. Bailey’s will expand into “the former shoe repair location at 325 N. Crescent Drive,” according to a staff report by Brenda Lavender, the city’s real estate and property manager. The council also agreed to a 10-year lease of the additional 458 square feet for $1,374 a month, or $3 per square foot. The bakery, which has been in Beverly Hills for decades, is expanding to accommodate for cake offerings that “include wedding and special occasion cakes,” according to Lavender’s report. The lease amendment also requires the city to pay for a new $15,000 air conditioning system in the building. Be sure to follow Beverly Hills Patch on Twitter and “Like” us on Facebook . 30 Seconds To Mars Guinness Record
Guinness World Records has honored the Los Angeles rock band 30 Seconds To Mars for Most Shows Played During An Album Cycle. 30 Seconds To Mars was officially recognized for their performance of an unprecedented 309 live concerts worldwide in support of the album This Is War since its release two years ago. The Guinness World Record for 30 Seconds To Mars’ record-breaking 727-day-long album tour comes after the band’s endurance of obstacles, setbacks and disasters that might have ended the career of any rock music group. Officially, formally and undeniably, 30 Seconds To Mars is the hardest-working band in the entertainment business. The history-making California rock band enjoys the strongest of bonds with their international fan base, so it was appropriate and emotional when lead singer Jared Leto shared the Guinness award with them. “I want everyone in here to carry this with them for the rest of their lives,” Leto said as he hoisted the Guinness award above his head to the screams of thousands of fans. 30 Seconds To Mars band members Jared Leto , Tomo Miličević and Shannon Leto have secured a place in the Guinness Book of World Records in a hard-won victory that represents the innovation and determination of all who turn a California Dream into a reality. “People started to ask us, with an incredulous look, ‘What the f— is wrong with you?’ or they would kind of look at us and be like, ‘You guys are still on tour?’ said Hollywood actor and 30STM frontman Jared Leto. “As a kid, I was a big fan of the Guinness Book of World Records, so I just started thinking maybe we should take a shot at it,” Leto added. While perhaps not as lofty as a Guinness World Record, Californiality recognizes the members of 30 Seconds To Mars as California heroes for never giving in or giving up in the face of fierce adversity and tremendously difficult odds.
