The housewives dialed it down a bit this week in anticipation of what looks like another epic battle next week, and also, out of a humble, quiet respect for shoes. The episode opens as a scattered Lisa wanders home just in time to help Pandora with her wedding planning. Pandie – who we’ll all recall was once described as something along the lines of tasteful and classy – has selected invitations for her wedding, she tells Lisa, and they will cost a very tactful total of $15,000. more › Originally posted here: ‘The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills’ Recap: The Maloof Hoof

The feud between drivers and cyclists runs deep in Los Angeles. Now, a local cycling advocate is asking the city to set up more license checkpoints for drivers. Alex de Cordoba was riding his bike in Echo Park when, he says in a Huffington Post column , he was “nearly killed by a hit and run driver.” A week later, while driving to work, he noticed a checkpoint for unlicensed drivers — and a man holding a sign to alert fellow car enthusiasts. more › Here is the original post: Cycling Advocate Calls for More Drivers License Checkpoints

A memorial 5K run/walk will take place Dec. 3 in memory of Beverly Hills High School student Vahagn Setian , who was killed in a 2006 car crash. The driver of the car in which Setian was riding, actor Lane Garrison, later pleaded guilty to vehicular manslaughter and two other alcohol-related charges. “This is an event where our community and the police can come together to remember someone very dear to many—and celebrate life,” Vahagn’s father Karén Setian said in an email to Patch. The first-time 5K run/walk, which is being organized by the nonprofit Vahagn Setian Charitable Foundation and Beverly Hills Police Department , is taking place on the fifth anniversary of Vahagn’s death. “From the day of its creation, [the Vahagn Setian Charitable Foundation] has been involved with educating our youth of the consequences of their actions and encouraging them to make wise and healthy decisions,” Setian said. The gathering place before and after the walk, as well as the check-in booth, is at the “boat court” below the Beverly Hills police station in Civic Center Plaza. Participation is free of charge, but donations are welcome. At 8:30 a.m., members of the BHPD Baker to Vegas relay team will inaugurate the course. The run starts at North Rexford Drive and Park Way, heads east on Park Way, then north on North Oakhurst Drive to Cynthia Street, continuing north to Sunset Boulevard, then west on Sunset Boulevard and south on North Alpine Drive back to Park Way. The last runners will be allowed to start the course no later than 10:30 a.m. Event sponsors include Wells Fargo, The Peninsula of Beverly Hills, Tom Ford, M. Kantor of Beverly Hills and the Lili & Jon Bosse family. The check-in booth as well as those for the Vahagn Setian Charitable Foundation, Beverly Hills Police Officers Association and Wells Fargo will be at the boat court as will gourmet food trucks and live jazz music. The event is being held from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. For more information, contact Karén Setian at ksetian@VahagnFoundation.org or call 310-993-5424. Additional information is also available on the foundation’s website . Be sure to follow Beverly Hills Patch on Twitter and “Like” us on Facebook .
