LOS ANGELES — The mother of a German man suspected of more than 50 arson attacks over New Year’s weekend is due in a Los Angeles courtroom Friday for fraud charges she faces back in her native country. Dorothee Burkhart was charged with 19 counts of fraud in Frankfurt, including failing to pay for a 2004 breast-augmentation surgery and pilfering security deposits from renters. The purpose of the hearing is to determine whether she should be released on bond. Her son, Harry Burkhart, was charged Wednesday with 37 counts of arson as part of a rash of fires that caused more than $3 million in damage. His bail was set at $2.85 million. William Scott Woodin, 39, was discovered missing from Theo Lacy Jail around 5:39pm on Wednesday.
