LAist Interview: Elena Crevello and Heidi Niedermeyer, Creators of ‘Shit People in L.A. Say’
Last week, we posted a couple of videos that documented shit L.A. people say. One of those videos, by Elena Crevello and Heidi Niedermeyer, touched on some characteristics we (perhaps a little cringing-ly) recognized in ourselves: the urge to speak to dogs as if they are human children, the refusal to go west of Vermont, and the propensity to curse at other people from the safety of one’s own vehicle. more › View original post here: LAist Interview: Elena Crevello and Heidi Niedermeyer, Creators of ‘Shit People in L.A. Taylor Armstrong Denies Her Abuse Allegations Are False
Shortly before her husband Russell committed suicide , ” Real Housewives ” star Taylor Armstrong filed for divorce, accusing him of verbal and physical abuse during their five-year marriage. However, Russell’s sister, Laurie Armstrong Kelsoe has refuted those accusations . She has also said that not only was there no domestic abuse, but also that she believes Russell may have been murdered. Andy Cohen asked Taylor about Laurie’s allegations on ” Watch What Happens Live ” (Weeknights, 11 p.m. EST on Bravo), saying that according to Laurie “there’s nothing that supports your accusations.” In response Taylor said that Laurie wouldn’t have known about the state of the Armstrongs’ marriage because she was dealing with her “own problems and complications” for most of that time period. Supporting her claims of abuse, Taylor said “I have a titanium mesh implant holding up my right eye right now, so I don’t know what more radiographic evidence you need than that.” Taylor announced that she’d had the implant back in October during an interview with KTLA-TV’s morning show . During that interview she also alleged that her marriage was abusive long before the “Real Housewives” camera crew moved in and that she believed doing the show actually may have saved her life. “Watch What Happens Live” airs Weeknights, 11 p.m. EST on Bravo. A Never-Seen Tour Of Disneyland 2 Years After It Opened
Oh, the good old days. When Disneyland was a family friendly playground dotted with horsedrawn carriage rides, safaris and lawns trimmed to consider afternoon napping. When bands conductors spoke to park visitors mid-song. And, most importantly, when there were short lines. This never-before-seen five-minute film is a restored cut from a 20-minute reel of Disneyland circa 1957, just two years after the park opened to the public. Venture on for a peaceful throwback to simpler times, and read Todd J. Pierce’s thoughtful commentary on the footage for the Disney History Institute here . ‘Californication’: Police Ride-Along ‘Death Valley’ Crossover?
As preparation for his movie that is most definitely not “Beverly Hills Cop,” Samurai Apocalypse was invited on a ride-along with the local police on ” Californication ” (Sun., 10:30 p.m. EST on Showtime). He cajoled Hank, as his writer, to join him on the ride-along and Charlie weaseled his own way in to fulfill a childhood dream. But it’s unlikely his dream went like this ride-along did. In a very meta moment for however many fans of “Californication” happen to also be fans of MTV’s bizarre “Death Valley” comedy series, the officer they tagged along with was played by Bryan Callen. Callen is the captain of the Undead Task Force on that series, taking out werewolves, zombies and vampires. But he brought almost that same level of lunacy to his portrayal here. From joking about shooting a kid to literally taking the gang to a donut shop, with a drawn out explanation as to why they’re so important to a cop’s routine, it was as if this were an official crossover between the two shows. It was so absurd, at first it seemed clear he was joking when he started acting like he was having a heart attack. But he wasn’t acting. With the officer out of commission, the surreality of the episode didn’t end. Sam decided instead to steal the cop car, with Hank and Charlie still riding along. They got up to all sorts of trouble — and Charlie was traumatized as usual — until the episode ended with a real officer pulling them over after they offered a ride to Bates, off on a nude run through town. See if they get arrested as the already renewed “Californication” continues Sundays at 10:30 p.m. EST on Showtime. Clippers vs. Lakers: Which Team Has The Worst Fans? (VIDEO)
We all know the stereotypes. Hardcore Lakers fans light things on fire when the team wins a championship. Hardcore Clippers fans are perpetually depressed because they’ve never had a chance to destroy anything except their expectations. Here’s something they have in common: both groups get their own version of the “Sh*t People Say” meme, and neither come out smelling like roses. The Lakers are riding high on 16 league championships, so the fans on ” Stuff Laker Fans Say ,” are bombastic and entitled. They defend Kobe against rape accusations, express nostalgia for the Zen Master and shove a Lamar Odom jersey to the back of their closet. The money quotes: “Derek Fisher’s so old. RETIRE!” and “We should trade Luke Walton for…” anyone. WATCH : Just like the franchise and its fans, the ” Sh*t Clippers Fans Say ” video is a little pathetic because it’s so hopeful. The fan swings from unbridled optimism (“This is our year! We’ve got CP3!”) to fatalism (“This franchise is so cursed”). And, as true Clipper fandom requires, the video is shot through with a strong dose of hate for Kobe and all other “fakers.” WATCH : Of course, the tables could turn for both sets of fans this year. With a couple of power trades and a strong start to the season , the oft-maligned Los Angeles Clippers have transformed into “Lob City” — while the Lakers are looking old, tired and frustrated on the road . For the sake of the All-Star game, expect these two sets of cultish fans to come together for one night. Four of the Western Conference’s starters come from LA : Kobe Bryant and Andrew Bynum from the Lakers, and Chris Paul and Blake Griffin from the Clippers. But don’t expect the kumbayas to last for long; both teams are gunning for the playoffs, and only one can represent the West in the NBA finals.
