Click here to view the full photogallery. Last week Grind House Coffee owner Michael Quinones soft opened Rockpaper Coffee in the previous Coffee T Bar space on Sunset at Gardner. The unfussy coffee shop brews single origin organic pour over drip coffee, in addition to smoothies, Brooklyn bagels, wraps, salads, sandwiches, and breakfast fare. An official grand opening is planned for this coming Friday/Saturday and all coffee drinks will be served gratis. In the future Rockpaper Coffee will host nightly music shows, stand-up comedy performances, and monthly live model life drawing classes. Hours of operation run daily from 7AM to 7PM. Voting in Eater’s fourth annual Hottest Chefs Competition continues with the seventh heat of the first round. Today Micah Fields from The Standard Downtown steps up against Chris Phelps at Salt’s Cure, pastry chef Tamra Davis originally at Bottega Louie though now playing with sugar at Mi Piace, and finally Whist executive chef Tony DiSalvo . The victor of this heat will face the winners of the other seven first round battles including Taylor Boudreaux, John-Carlos Kuramoto, Chris Crary, Johnny Zone, Kris Tominaga, and yesterday’s winner Waylynn Lucas . This here is the overdue Gardens on Glendon space that was actually estimated to open last April. After many months and much interior work, new owner Peter Clinco (a long-time friend and lawyer to the Lewis Family who operated Gardens on Glendon) is readying his restaurant for a soft run later this month with an official reveal in early March. On the subject of Palm Springs, Grub Street reports that big deal Philly chef and restaurateur Jose Garces (Amada, Tinto) plans to open a restaurant in the desert, of all places . Some major nightlife changes are going down. First, Paul & Andre ‘s stint at the former Cinespace may be doneski, but multiple sources claim they are ready for round two. This time Paul & Andre will pop up in the defunct Purple Lounge at The Standard on Sunset and we’re told “it’s coming soon.” After many years and many late nights, it is with mixed emotions that we bid farewell to Teddy’s in the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel, a venue named after the late Ted Demme, a Hollywood director/producer. As previously mentioned , management has been considering a retool for quite a while, and as of last Friday doors are officially closed .
