Coming Attractions : Confirmed: Hakkasan Hitting BH with Pricey Chinese

Last May came word that Alan Yau , creator of worldwide Asian noodle chain Wagamam, planned to grow a separate concept, Hakkasan , his high end brand of Cantonese, Michelin-starred restaurants (London, Abu Dhabi, Mumabi, and Miami) to Los Angeles, potentially in partnership with sbe. Here now, Bloomberg confirms much of the aforementioned, writing that in the US Hakkasan restaurants are planned for Manhattan, San Francisco, Las Vegas, and on North Beverly Drive in Beverly Hills . The currently functioning domestic branch of Hakkasan in Miami’s Fontainebleau Hotel sports a strong four star Yelp rating, and here’s a quick look at dining options which include a dim sum menu , and an a la carte menu in which many entrees cost $40+ and Peking duck with Russian Osetra Caviar will set you back $198. Step aside, Mr. Chow. Eater Inside : Oldfield’s Liquor Room, A Tribute to Barney Oldfield, Opens October 21 in Culver City

It’s hard to tell but this is a complete overhaul of the former Saints & Sinners, located on Venice just a few blocks west of Overland. The bar finally shuttered to make way for a new vision of days past, Oldfield’s Liquor Room , a drinkery from Bobby Green of the 1933 Group (Thirsty Crow, Bigfoot Lodge). Green designed the venue as an ode to Barney Oldfield , a famous speed racer in the 1900s who has been a lifelong hero of his. In fact, Green himself builds and races vintage bars and even competes at the Bonneville Salt Flats every year. In an effort to combine his love for race car driving and vintage cocktails, Oldfield’s was born and this bast from the past opens to the public on October 21 . GM Jared Mort has hired a grade A crew to man the bar, Armando Conway comes by way of La Descarga, Robin Jackson from Club Mallard, and Aaron Stepka from A-Frame and Rivera. With all the above pictured tables and chairs, the space is conducive to drinking as well as dining, and chef Chester Hastings (author of The Cheesemonger’s Kitchen ) created a few seasonal tapas available until supplies run out nightly. The offerings for this month include: Thick-cut Fra’ Mani Ham with Black Cherry Jam and Farm Butter, Challerhocker Cheese with Rosemary and Apricot Mostarda, Valhrona Bittersweet Chocolate with Extra Virgin Olive Oil and Sea Salt.
