A tipster writes in to let us know about Place Yuu’s closure. I went by the Japanese restaurant Place Yuu on Sawtelle yesterday & notice it was closed, all signage was gone & windows were all construction papered up. A favorite late night sushi haunt on the Westside, the shutter comes as a surprise. So far, the papered windows don’t give any hint of what may come, and there is not yet a for lease sign on the building. Hold the Chocolate Cardamom Cream Cake. Short Cake is currently down and out. According to the bakeshop’s website , “Due to unplanned power outage, we are temporarily closed. DWP has not yet provided an eta for restoring service.” PR says that DWP’s transformers at 3rd and Fairfax blew last night at around 7PM . However, word just in that power should resume later today and Short Cake is expected to reopen doors this evening.
