On Sunday night, two local women became the first out lesbians to compete in the Miss California USA pageant. With most of the cast enjoying a vacation in Hawaii on ” The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills ” (Mon., 9 p.m. EST On Bravo), Taylor Armstrong was strangely alone during one of the most pivotal moments in her adult life. She’d just realized her marriage to Russell was over, and had left him. So she turned to another friend, Dana Wilkey, to try and get through some of the raw emotions she was dealing with. “I’m either crying or I’m screaming or I’m drinking too much,” Taylor admitted. “I’m just trying to keep a lid on a pot that’s overboiling. I’m just trying to hold it on and I can’t do it anymore.” Dana was supportive, but grateful to finally hear her friend saying what everyone had seen for so long already. “I just have to learn now to be on my own and discover that I’m worth something better than what I’ve had,” Taylor told her. There are only two episodes left in this season, and of course viewers already now the tragic end of the Armstrong’s marital problems. Russell Armstrong committed suicide on August 15, 2011, after filming had wrapped for this season. “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” continues Monday nights at 9 p.m. EST on Bravo. If you were to believe ESPN, the BCS and the folks who live in the South, then you would believe the Kings were the best team in the NHL. Like the two SEC teams fighting for the Mythical Championship in college football, the Kings have a pretty stout defense and are stunted on offense. As I have exhaustingly said almost each time I write about the Kings, they are the worst goal scoring team in the NHL. They’re even worse than the New York Islanders and the Anaheim Ducks. Miss California USA 2012 is Natalie Pack , 22, crowned at the annual Miss California pageant in Palm Desert with a sparkling diamond tiara. “Surreal!” Natalie Pack exclaimed as the blonde beauty queen defeated 277 other women competing for the crown and the right to reign over the world’s most famous state. A 6-foot tomboy, Miss California Natalie Ann Pack is into bicycling, motorcycling and oil painting.
State Assembly candidate Betsy Butler and her supporters criticized Torie Osborn’s campaign for recruiting people to join the Malibu Democratic Club so they could vote for her in Sunday’s endorsement election. Osborn supporters say Butler’s camp is being hypocritical because it had encouraged people to “join as many of the Dem clubs as possible” through a mass email. Butler told Patch that the two situations are different because nobody has offered to pay for her supporters to join the organizations. One person submitted a $1,000 check last month to the Malibu club to cover the expenses of about 40 Osborn supporters’ memberships, club President Jean Goodman told Patch. Osborn won the Malibu club’s endorsement for the Assembly’s 50th District seat on Sunday after receiving 41 votes following a forum featuring the three Democratic candidates. Five people chose Butler, none picked Richard Bloom and 13 club members wanted there to be no endorsement. “The thing that’s most concerning here is that one person wrote a check for 42 members,” Butler told Patch on Monday. “How hard is it to join a club if somebody’s writing the check for you?” Goodman has declined to name the person who submitted the check. She said the name would be revealed when the club files its next financial report with the California Secretary of State’s Office. When asked by Patch about this issue on Sunday, Osborn said her campaign “organized some people to either re-up [their memberships] or join,” but said she personally had nothing to do with it. Several Osborn supporters forwarded the email from Butler’s campaign to Patch. The email states: Join as many of the Dem clubs as possible (for most of the clubs, the only requirement to join is that you be a registered Democrat. For instance, you do not necessarily need to live in the Pacific Palisades to join the Pacific Palisades Democratic Club ) … Ask as many friends as you can to also join and attend as many Dem clubs as possible. Osborn supporter Dante Atkins, who is a vice chair of the Los Angeles County Democratic Party , wrote to Patch, ”The complaints from Betsy Butler’s surrogates about the Malibu Democratic Club endorsement process are the height of hypocrisy.” Be sure to follow Beverly Hills Patch on Twitter and “Like” us on Facebook .
