A man is asked over and over if he has had anything to drink that evening. He mearly didnt awnser the question, and was allowed to go. These DUI check-points are nothing more than entrapment, and a violation of our rights. Innocent until proven guilty? I think not. Guilty until proven innocent fits DUI check points more appropriately.

I was out on a little errand with my girlfriend to the baby store, just outside the shopping center was a DUI checkpoint with 50+ Police units including officers in training, Sheriff’s Department, Deputies, etc. The checkpoint started before 6:00pm (way before anyone starts drinking, during peak traffic hours in Orange County). I was going to record the small closed off area where the police where illegally searching and questioning people, conveniently for the police, the owners of the private property allowed them to stage this Nazi Stop, making it against the law for civilians to audio or video record the operation. This didnt stop me from pulling out my camera and filming the outside operation and asking a few questions.

A Beverly Hills Police Department DUI checkpoint at Sunset Boulevard and North Alta Drive scheduled for 6-10 p.m. Friday has been postponed due to a chance of rain in the weather forecast. “It is cost prohibitive to set up and pull down a DUI checkpoint in the rain,” Lt. Mark Rosen said. “It is also a danger to those operating it.” The date and location of the next BHPD DUI checkpoint is yet to be determined. “We look at where we’re having the most arrests and accidents because of DUIs,” Sgt. Mike Foxen said when asked how checkpoint locations are planned. When operating a DUI checkpoint, officers cone off a lane of traffic and typically stop three cars at a time at 15-car intervals, Foxen said. “We make sure there is no drinking and driving, and check driver’s licenses,” he said.
