Second Time’s A Charm : LA Creamery Plans 20 Locations In The Middle East

In, perhaps, one of the most random turn of events – LA Creamery – that small batch artisan ice cream company which rapidly expanded to three locations in under a year then just as quickly melted from three to zero locations – is about to ink a deal with the TDIC (Tourism Development & Investment Company), a developer of tourism destinations in Abu Dhabi owned by the royal family. In the agreement, LA Creamery would license its name to TDIC to open seven to 10 ice cream shops in the next few years, with a total commitment of 20 locations over 10 years time . Owner Brad Saltzman says, “After months of negotiations, we finally found a kitchen in Abu Dhabi to prepare the ice cream to our recipes. The Director of F&B of the entire TDIC is flying out next month to meet with us and we hope to have the deal wrapped up early next year .” &#183 LA Creamery Closes Its Third and Final Scoopery [~ELA~] Read more: Second Time’s A Charm : LA Creamery Plans 20 Locations In The Middle East

Library Honors Volunteers at Thank You Luncheon

December 21, 2011

Those who donate their time to the Friends of the Beverly Hills Public Library were honored last week at the group’s annual volunteer thank you luncheon. Friends President Charlotte Hill-Skura welcomed volunteers and board members, as well as Mayor Barry Brucker, Councilman, John Mirisch, City Manager Jeff Kolin, Director of Community Services Steve Zoet and Human Services Administrator Jim Latta. Marketing Supervisor Ellen Prager represented Whole Foods Beverly Hills , which has contributed to Friends through its “Community 5% Days” program. The Beverly Hills High School Madrigals  were on hand to entertain at the luncheon. Hunt-Coffey praised the Friends, adding that all monies raised by the bookstore and membership drives go dollar-for-dollar to programs, including the Friends Reading Group facilitated by Judith Palarz. Assistant Director of Community Services Nancy Hunt-Coffey also commended the City Council for its recent approval of funding for library renovations and an expansion of the children’s area.  It was, however, not all was good news at the event. Hunt-Coffey said that the library lost $175,000 due to recent state budget cuts—with the adult literary program losing $55,000. If you would like to volunteer with the Friends of the Beverly Hills Public Library to help raise funds for library programs, call 310-288-2286 for more information. The Language of Love: Kogi/Chego/A-Frame/Sunny Spot chef Roy Choi on…

Kogi/Chego/A-Frame/Sunny Spot chef Roy Choi on his Cubano sandwich served at Sunny Spot : “It’s just filled with layers… It’s like when you get stoned, sometimes things go into different worlds and fabrics and textures . It’s a little crispy, then it’s spicy and warm and soothing. It helps me bring in a whole pantry of ingredients that as a chef I may have considered not good enough. Using [classical] techniques but then balancing it with straight French’s yellow mustard, or bringing in some ghettos — that you pull from your cupboard.” [Daily Beast] View original post here: The Language of Love: Kogi/Chego/A-Frame/Sunny Spot chef Roy Choi on…
