Los Angeles: Detectives are asking for the public’s help to identify a strong-armed robber who held up a local gas station using force, fear, and a simulated handgun. On January 29, 2012, just after 10 pm, the suspect, a White male or light-skinned Hispanic, went into a gas station in the 5300 block of South Huntington Drive. He walked behind the counter and grabbed an unsuspecting clerk from behind and demanded money from the cash drawer. In fear for their life, the victim complied with the demand. The suspect left the store and drove off in a late-90s dark colored sedan. Store surveillance cameras captured the suspect’s image and getaway car. Those images are attached to this news release and the video can be viewed at lapdtv.org. The suspect was 6 feet 1 inch tall, weighed about 230 pounds and was 35 to 45 years old. Detectives warn that the suspect should be considered armed and dangerous. Anyone with information about this crime, suspect, or vehicle, is asked to contact Hollenbeck Area Robbery Detective Miguel Barajas at 323-342-8988.During non-business hours or on weekends, calls should be directed to 1-877-LAPD-24-7 (877-527-3247).
