Man Stabbed After Raiders-Chargers Game

November 11, 2011

SAN DIEGO — A 25-year-old man was stabbed during a fight in the Qualcomm Stadium parking lot after the Oakland Raiders’ victory over the San Diego Chargers on Thursday night, police said. Two men started fighting after the game and it doesn’t appear the fight had anything to do with a sports rivalry, San Diego police Officer David Stafford said. The injury doesn’t appear to be life-threatening, Stafford said. The victim was treated at a hospital for a stab wound to the abdomen. Stafford said there is no suspect description at this time. He said the victim was uncooperative with police. The stabbing is the second violent incident after a Raiders’ game this season. On Aug. 20 following San Francisco’s exhibition victory over the Raiders, two men were shot in the Candlestick Park parking lot. A 24-year-old man, who reportedly was wearing a “F— the Niners” T-shirt, was hospitalized in serious condition after being shot several times in the stomach. A second victim, a 20-year-old man, was treated for less serious wounds in a separate shooting. Those attacks came nearly five months after San Francisco Giants fan Bryan Stow was severely beaten by two men in Los Angeles Dodgers gear outside Dodger Stadium after the archrivals’ season opener in Los Angeles. Two men charged in the beating, Louie Sanchez and Marvin Norwood have pleaded not guilty. Stow, a Santa Cruz paramedic, sustained severe brain injuries and remains hospitalized in serious condition. Officers cleared of wrongdoing in DUI checkpoint death

source: www.myfoxboston.com Officers cleared of wrongdoing in DUI checkpoint death Wednesday, 24 Nov 2010 SALEM (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) – A year ago, a local father died just hours after being arrested at a sobriety checkpoint. On Tuesday, prosecutors cleared the officers involved of any wrongdoing. But Kenneth Howe’s family still believes he was the victim of excessive force. In fact, Howe’s family has filed a civil rights lawsuit. Holding up Kenneth Howe’s death certificate, attorney Frances King says she’s not surprised District Attorney Jonathan Blodgett found no fault with state police who arrested him. Standing with his widow Margaret and teenaged daughter Ashleigh, King says the district attorney just didn’t do his job. The medical examiner has ruled Howe’s death a homicide. His family believes police used excessive force in arresting him after the truck he was riding in was pulled over at a DUI checkpoint in North Andover. Photos taken by a news photographer at the scene show several police officers trying to control Howe. On Tuesday the DA announced a struggle with police coupled with an existing heart condition and high blood pressure contributed to his death. Bblodgett says Howe resisted arrest, had been smoking marijuana and was trying to hide dozens of oxycodone pills from police. What’s worse, the family maintains they learned of Blodgett’s findings on the news. The family attorney also called releasing these findings just two days before the anniversary …

Crook Robs Blind Woman in Little Tokyo, Caught on Video.wmv

Crook Robs Blind Woman in Little Tokyo, Caught on Video.wmv

Los Angeles. Los Angeles detectives have released video of a shocking, daylight robbery in Little Tokyo, in which a man chokes an elderly blind woman to steal her gold chain and jade pendant. “This is shocking to watch, especially when you consider this woman is legally blind,” said Lt. Paul Vernon, commanding officer of the Central Detective Division. “When you watch the video you can actually read the crook’s mind as he sizes up his victim and waits for witnesses to walk by.” The robbery occurred on 1st Street between Los Angeles Street and San Pedro Street on July 24. The retired resident of Little Tokyo was pushing her walker down the sidewalk around noon, when a short Hispanic man sneaks up behind the 68 year old. The crook grabs her around the throat and chokes her as she struggles to understand what is happening to her. “She fights back, but the suspect gets her gold chain and jade pendant, worth about $100,” Lt. Vernon explained. “If this video doesn’t make you angry, little will.” A man in a nearby business also comes to the victim’s rescue and the suspect runs away. Detectives are combing through other video to see if the suspect’s image is captured later. “Street robberies are uncommon in the Little Tokyo area, so this one really stands out,” Lt. Vernon said. “And this suspect really needs to go to jail.” The mugger was wearing a white shirt, a small back pack, and a baseball cap turned backwards. Anyone with information on this crime is urged to call Central …
