LAPD Harbor Division Robbery Detectives are asking for the public’s help in identifying a robbery suspect whose images were captured on surveillance video committing two robberies in the San Pedro area. On July 1, 2012, around 9:15 pm, a male Hispanic suspect entered a business located in the 300 block of Gaffey St and robbed the store employee, using a knife. The suspect took cash from the employee then fled the location on foot. On July 9, 2012, around 6:20 pm, the same suspect entered a business located in the 700 block of South Pacific Ave and robbed the store employee, using a knife. The suspect took cash and merchandise from the employee then fled the location. The suspect is described as a male Hispanic, about 20 to 25-years-old, stands 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighs about 170 pounds. He was wearing white or silver rimmed sunglasses, a black t-shirt and black pants. Cops Roll Passenger at DUI Checkpoint in Torrance
Torrance Police Department conducted a DUI – License checkpoint on Pacific Coast Highway on June 22, 2012. A minivan came through driven by a female with a male passenger. The police forced the driver and the passenger to show ID and then forced the passenger to perform a field sobriety test. Are these checkpoints really about stopping drunk drivers and if so how come Torrance PD is targeting passengers ? After watching the FST being conducted the male passenger appears to have passed it perfectly and didnt appear inpaired. Police kept him anyway.
Pedestrian Struck and Killed by Two Hit and Run Drivers NR12288kr
Los Angeles: A 66-year-old Los Angeles man was struck and killed by two hit and run drivers. On June 17, 2012, around 1:50 am, the pedestrian was crossing outside the crosswalk on Central Avenue south of 42nd Place. A silver Pontiac Grand AM with chrome rims traveling northbound Central Avenue struck the victim and left him lying in the roadway. Minutes later a green Chevrolet Suburban with tinted windows (possible chrome rims), also traveling north on Central Avenue, ran over the victim as he lay in the street. The victim was dragged nearly 200 feet under the Suburban. The driver of the Suburban is believed to be a male Hispanic in his 20’s with glasses and spiky hair. Detectives do not have a description of the Grand AM driver. The victim’s name is being withheld until his family can be notified. May 31, 2012 NR12243bb Argument Escalates to Stabbing Suspects Captured on Surveillance Video Los Angeles: Los Angeles Police Department Northeast Division Detectives are asking for the public’s help in providing any information that would lead to the identification of the suspects who stabbed two men during an argument. On May 24, 2012, at around 12:05 am, Northeast Area officers responded to a call 9-1-1 call of an Assault with A Deadly Weapon (ADW)-cutting, at Echo Park and Scott Avenue. Los Angeles Fire Department Paramedics also responded and treated two victims of a stabbing. Both victims were transported to a local hospital in stable condition, and were treated for stab wounds. The detective’s investigation revealed that the two victims were involved in an argument with three suspects, during which both victims were stabbed. The type of weapon used could not be determined. All three suspects fled the area on foot. The surveillance released by the Northeast Crime Analysis Detail depicts the incident. The suspects are described as two male Hispanics in their twenties and one female Hispanic also in her twenties, no further. This incident is being handled as a hate crime as the suspects made derogatory remarks regarding the victims’ perceived sexual orientation. Robbery Suspect Captured on Tape NR12225cj
Los Angeles: Detectives are asking for the public’s help to identify a robber who stole two Rolex watches from a jewelry shop inside of a mall in Century City. On May 10, 2012, around 4:50 pm, LAPD West Los Angeles officers received a call of a robbery at a mall in the 10200 block of Santa Monica Boulevard. When the officers arrived, they immediately checked for the safety of the employees and searched the area for possible suspects. The officers were unable to locate any suspect in the vicinity. A security guard suffering from minor injuries, was treated at the scene by LAFD Rescue personnel. After a thorough investigation detectives believe a man walked into the jewelry store and asked one of the employees to look at some watches. When the employee presented the watches, the suspect grabbed one watch from the tray and forced the second watch from the employee’s hand. He then ran towards the exit and was tackled by a security guard. The suspect managed to break free and ran southbound through the mall and out toward Constellation Boulevard. The suspect is described as a 23 to 26-year-old male African American. He stands between 5’4 and 5’6 inches tall and weighs between 130 and 145 pounds. The two watches are valued at $64900.00. South Los Angeles: Detectives released a video that captured the robbery of a neighborhood restaurant. On January 30, 2012 at 10:08 am, a man entered a restaurant located in the 6200 block of Broadway and walked directly behind the cashier counter. He pulled out a handgun and brandished it in front of the cashier and demanded money. The cashier, in fear for his safety, opened the cash register and stepped away. The suspect walked up to the register, removed the money and walked out of the restaurant. The suspect is described as a 25 to 27-year-old African-American, who stands around 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighs about 170 pounds. He was wearing a black beanie, black pants and a black hooded sweatshirt. Brazen Home Invasion Robbery Suspects Sought
Los Angeles: LAPD Detectives are asking for the public’s help to identify three home invasion robbery suspects who tied up one victim during a robbery. On January 9, 2012, at about 2:35 pm, officers were called to a residence in the 12000 block of Dunblane Avenue to investigate a home invasion robbery that had just occurred. Officers discovered the suspects had forced their way into two different homes in the area, ransacking them and taking items of jewelry. One resident who confronted the suspects was tied up by them but not injured. They are described as two 20- to 25-year-old male Blacks, one 6 foot 3 inches tall weighing about 200 to 225 pounds and the other 5 feet 9 inches tall weighing about 170 to 180 pounds. When they ran from the residence, both ran to a waiting newer-model, white Chevrolet Traverse Sports Utility Vehicle with collision damage on the passenger’s front door, driven by a third suspect.
