Robbery Committed with Handgun and Facsimile Explosive Device NR12135kr
Los Angeles: A suspect used a handgun and an object resembling an explosive device to hold up a wholesale store along a busy street in the western part of Los Angeles. On March 16, 2012, around 8:40 pm, a suspect walked into a warehouse store in the 10100 block of Venice Boulevard holding a handgun and what appeared to be an explosive device. The suspect used the weapons to intimidate two store employees, forcing one to open a safe. After retrieving an undisclosed amount of money the suspect ran from the store. During the investigation Detectives discovered the stores surveillance camera had captured the suspects’ image when he entered the store on March 12 and March 15, 2012. He is described as a 50-year to 60-year-old male Black, 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet tall, 180 to 200 pounds. Detectives are asking for the public’s help to identify him. BHPD Apprehends Car Chase Suspect
Beverly Hills police were led on a car chase Friday that ended when the suspect lost control while driving at the La Brea Avenue exit of the eastbound Santa Monica Freeway. Officers had conducted a warrant check on the vehicle involved in the chase at about 5:40 p.m. on South La Cienega Boulevard and Gregory Way in Beverly Hills. The warrant “came back as an armed and dangerous vehicle,” BHPD Lt. Lincoln Hoshino said. “The officers attempted to perform a stop and the suspect fled.” After losing control of the vehicle, the suspect fled on foot. He was caught and taken into custody without further incident around 5:50 p.m., Hoshino said. This report was compiled with information from City News Service. Mother and Son Critically Injured by Hit & Run Driver NR11393cj
Los Angeles: Detectives are asking for the public’s help in locating a hit and run driver who struck and critically injured a 45-year-old woman and her 17-year-old son as they were crossing the street. On Sunday, August 21, 2011, at about 11:30 am, a motorist traveling northbound on Western Avenue hit two pedestrians walking westbound in the crosswalk at the intersection of 80th Street and Western Avenue. The driver failed to stop to render aid or identify themselves as required by law. LAFD rescue personnel responded to the scene and transported both victims to a local hospital where they are in critical condition. The driver is described as a female African American in her mid fifties, about 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighing about 160 pounds. She was driving a dark late model car described as a possible Toyota, and would likely have sustained right front end damage and be missing the right side mirror. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call LAPD South Traffic Division Detective Martin or Officer Brady at 323-421-2500.
